Mission Statement

Jerónimo Martins is a Portuguese Group with international projection operating in Food Distribution and Manufacturing, with a view to satisfying the legitimate interests of its Shareholders in the short, medium and long term, while simultaneously contributing to the sustainable development of the regions in which it operates.

Within the scope of its mission, these are the Group's objectives:
  • To promote maximum operating efficiency across all business areas so as to optimise the results generated through its financial, material and human resources.
  • To guarantee customer loyalty and maximum satisfaction and to improve the quality of life of its customers through firm commitment to innovation and the offer of the best quality/price ratio in its products and services.
  • To ensure that the entire Organisation acts to the highest standards of conduct and of social responsibility, building relationships of trust with all the Group's stakeholders.
  • To conduct the business through dynamic and flexible organisations, endowed with strong human capital, capable of allying accumulated experience and know-how to the permanent need for change, and promoting to guarantee that the whole organisation is aligned to the strategic challenges and the activities that are true generators of value.

Business

The Group has a balanced business portfolio that combines the strength of the market positions held by the retail and wholesale operations in Portugal with the potential for growth of the Biedronka operation in Poland, and the maturity and ability to release cash flow from industrial assets held in partnership with Unilever.

In Food Distribution, in Portugal, Jerónimo Martins has the leadership with the brands Pingo Doce (supermarkets), Feira Nova (mini-hyper and hypermarkets) and Recheio (cash & carry (cash & carry and and food service platforms), leading in supermarkets and cash & carry.

In Poland, Biedronka, a supermarket chain offering a range of quality food goods and a constant low-price policy, is the market leader in food distribution, with a clear advantage over rivals in terms of number of stores and brand notoriety.

Jerónimo Martins is also the largest industrial Group of fast moving consumer goods in Portugal, where it holds leading positions in several markets of fast moving consumer goods through its association with Unilever Jerónimo Martins and Gallo Worldwide. Companies with leadership Brands in the following markets: olive oil, margarine, ice tea, ice cream and fabrics cleaners, among others.

The Group also has a business area dedicated to Marketing, Representation and Catering, which includes the company Jerónimo Martins Distribuição de Produtos de Consumo (Jerónimo Martins Consumer Product Distribution). This company represents international brands in Portugal, some of which are market leaders in the food and cosmetic consumer goods industries (through its partnership with the Puig Group), and the select cosmetics field Portugal. Jerónimo Martins also owns the Hussel retail chain with 23 stores specialised in chocolates and confectionery, Caterplus that sells and distributes food products especially for the Food Service, and Jerónimo Martins Restauração e Serviços (Jerónimo Martins Catering and Services) dedicated to the development of projects in the Catering sector and which includes the Jeronymo coffee kiosks chain, Chili's restaurant and the Ben & Jerry and Olá ice-cream chains.
