The origins of Jerónimo Martins Distribuição de Produtos de Consumo (JMD) go back to 1782 and the Chiado store in Central Lisbon, the "cradle" of Group Jerónimo Martins.

JMD's core business is the exclusive representation and distribution of international brands, most of them market leaders. The company is present in a variety of markets, and has an expert distribution knowledge and familiarity with the Portuguese consumer. This is why major multinational businesses choose JMD to distribute their products in Portugal.

JMD does not own the brands, but acts as a crucial bridge between the companies it represents and the supply chain (diferentes canais de distribuição). One of the company's roles is to define the operational strategy in Portugal for each brand, and then to put it into practice.
