Personal Data Protection Policy

This policy describes the processing of personal data collected by Jerónimo Martins, SGPS, with headquarters on Rua Actor António Silva, nº 7, Lisbon, registered on C.R.C. Lisbon with tax number 500 100 144 (hereinafter “Jerónimo Martins”), acting as controller, in the scope of the www.jeronimomartins.com website usage.

Purpose and Personal Data collected

Website navigation does not require registration. However, Jerónimo Martins may process your personal data to maintain quality of delivered service and effectively answer the user requests. Purposes for the personal data treatment are listed below:

Investors Relations Office

When you contact our Investor Relations Office, Jerónimo Martins collects the necessary data in order to respond to your requests, including name, email address and telephone number. Personal data will be kept while it is necessary for the intended purpose, after which will be eliminated.

Media Relations Office

When you contact our Media Relations Office, Jerónimo Martins collects the necessary data in order to respond to your requests, including name, email address and telephone number. Personal data will be kept while it is necessary for the intended purpose, after which will be eliminated.

Customer Ombudsman

When you contact the Customer Ombudsman, the necessary data is collected to answer your requests and to manage the complaints received. Data such as your name, email address, telephone number and information regarding the reason for your contact may be collected, which may be shared with the customer service channels available at the Jerónimo Martins Group’s companies (as referred below) regarding the situation communicated. Such data will be maintained for a maximum period of three years after the closing of the claim or, if applicable, up to the term of the legal proceedings in progress, at the end of which they will be eliminated.

Recruitment, Talent Programmes and Employer Branding

Jerónimo Martins has implemented a specific platform to manage its recruitment processes, accessible here, where you must register in order to submit your application for one or more job vacancies or opportunities in the different companies of the Jerónimo Martins Group. Please see the Privacy Policy on the platform to learn more about how your personal data is processed.

Moreover, based on your consent, we may communicate information about talent programmes, based on the data collected, namely, name, email address, programme of interest and country.

Personal data will be kept for a maximum period of one year after the User’s last interaction with the Platform or after the end of the selection and recruitment procedure, after which it will be anonymised. Application for minors will not be accepted.

Academic Thesis

In the framework of a scientific and academic research collaboration on Masters and PhD thesis, your personal data will be collected to manage the JM Academic Thesis Programme, including, but not limited to, name, e-mail address, telephone number. Personal data will be kept while it is necessary for the intended purpose, after which will be eliminated.

Ethics Committee

When you contact the Ethics Committee, your personal data, namely name, email address, address and phone number, may be collected, as well as shared with other Group Companies (as referred below), in order to respond to you request. Your personal data will be maintained for the period necessary to fulfill the intended purpose, or if applicable, up to the term of the legal proceedings, after which will be eliminated.

Mediterranean Diet

Within the scope of your participation in the Portuguese Mediterranean Diet Conference and with your consent, your name and email address were collected, with the purpose of sending information related to the Portuguese Mediterranean Diet Conference or other information under the theme “Healthy Eating”. The data collected will be kept until you cancel your subscription, which you can do through the link in the emails received.

Food in the future: evolution or revolution?

As part of your participation in the “Food in the future: evolution or revolution?” conference, and with your consent, your name and e-mail address were collected for the purpose of sending you communications from the Jerónimo Martins Group’s Corporate Responsibility area. The data collected will be kept until you cancel your subscription, which you can do at any time using the link provided in the e-mails we send.

Jerónimo Martins processes images of employees and third parties for the purpose of managing its historical archive, and may also publish them for brand marketing and communication purposes. In both cases, data is processed based on legitimate interests and, where required by law, the respective data subject consent.

Legitimate interest

In the context of its’ legitimate interest, and observing the rights of website users, Jerónimo Martins may process users’ personal data for the following purposes:
i) fraud prevention and detection;
ii) network security and information;
iv) development and maintenance of the website and App;
v) provision of technical assistance.

Data subject rights and exercise of rights

Under the legislation in force, data subjects are guaranteed the right to access, rectify and erase their personal data, to restrict and oppose their processing, as well as the right to data portability and processing restriction. Whenever the sole legal condition for the processing is the user’s consent, the latter may also withdraw previously given consent, at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Security measures

To ensure security of customers’ personal data, Jerónimo Martins has implemented the appropriate technical and organisational measures, for the processing activities above mentioned.

Communication of Personal Data

Based on the type of data and dependent on the purpose, your personal data may be shared with third entities, fulfilling legal, regulatory and judicial obligations.

Your personal data may be shared with the other companies of the Jerónimo Martins Group, owned directly or indirectly by Jerónimo Martins, and which may be dedicated, as the case may be, to food distribution, food and specialised retailing, restaurant services, livestock, dairy and aquaculture production, being located in Portugal, Poland and Colombia.

Personal data may be shared or accessed by Jerónimo Martins service providers, deemed necessary for the purposes described above, namely for the development, maintenance and hosting of computer systems, marketing and communications campaigns, market studies, customer support services, screening, evaluation and selection of candidates. Jerónimo Martins assures that it only resorts to service providers that present the guarantees of execution of technical and organisational measures necessary and adequate to protect your personal data. In this context, personal data collected may be transferred to entities located in third countries (outside the European Union), being ensured that appropriate legal and security measures are taken in accordance with the legislation in force.

Without prejudice to the situations expressly mentioned in this Policy, the data collected will not be transferred to third parties without your consent.

Google Analytics

To the extent the user has this system active, this site uses the Google Analytics service, a web analytics service provided by Google, to better understand site usage and services. Google Analytics collects information such as the frequency with which users visit the site as well as other visited web pages. Google uses collected data to track and examine your use of sites, prepare reports on your activities, and share them with other Google services. Google may use the data collected on the sites to contextualise and customise the ads in its own ad network. IP anonymity has been activated on our website so that the IP address of Google users in the Member States of the European Union or in other Contracting States to the Agreement on the European Economic Area is abbreviated in advance. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the United States of America.
