Incentivizing sustainability in our supply chains

Know the eligibility criteria that may qualify you, as our Companies' supplier, to benefit from more attractive financing conditions based on your ESG performance

HOW ESG PERFORMANCE CAN SUPPORT BETTER FINANCING FOR OUR SUPPLIERS

Strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance is increasingly recognised as an indicator of good management, resilience and lower risk. For Jerónimo Martins’ eligible suppliers, ESG performance can contribute to more competitive financing conditions.

If your company is investing in more sustainable practices, demonstrated by a third-party ESG assessment, you can turn that effort into financial cost savings.

WHAT IS AN ESG ASSESSMENT?

An ESG assessment evaluates your company’s practices in three areas: environment, social and governance. It is evidence-based, supported by internationally recognised criteria, and independently evaluated. It helps identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. Some of the aspects evaluated are summarised below.

Environment

  • Water and energy consumption
  • Waste management
  • Emissions

Social

  • Working conditions
  • Health and safety
  • Training and development

Governance

  • Ethics
  • Compliance
  • Transparency

WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS FOR YOUR COMPANY?

An independent ESG assessment can make your sustainability performance visible, measurable and credible, translating it into practical business value:

  • Improved access to finance: better ESG performance can support access to more favourable financing conditions, in selected financial institutions, including earlier invoice payments with lower financing costs.
  • Greater operational resilience: improve efficiency in resources usage, strengthen risk management and build capacity to meet operational and regulatory challenges.
  • Stronger partnerships: by being willing to share your ESG assessment with us, you will be demonstrating alignment with our core values, creating the conditions for a potentially more robust business relationship.
